Korean War (1950-1953): Before direct combat, the Boxer was loaded with U.S. Air Force F-51 Mustang fighters at Naval Air Station Alameda, California, for transport to the Korean theater. The Boxer's aircraft provided crucial close air support to U.N. ground troops during the pivotal Inchon Landings and the subsequent recapture of Seoul.
