April 11 isn't just any day. It's National Submarine Day. Here's one of our favorite archived videos of the U-505 when it first arrived to the Museum in 1954 with the help of Chicagoan Captain Dan Gallery. Gallery led the capture of the submarine during World War II, and in 1953 he and the Museum president at the time convinced the Navy to donate it to MSI instead of using the sub as target practice. THIS DAY IN HISTORY 75 years ago today German u-boat U-505 was captured by the Allies, specifically by a Chicagoan.
