Despite the cancellation of the 2025 National Carnival, the Jacmel Carnival still took place as scheduled, offering a vibrant display of the city's rich cultural heritage. The national festivities were called off after public backlash over the government’s decision to allocate $2 million to the celebration while the country grapples with escalating issues like gang violence, road blockages, and landslides.
