Here, a Navy Merlin Helos and RNLITorbay practise winching causalities from our lifeboat to the awaiting helicopter. RNLI Hoylake Lifeboat Station's recent hovercraft rescue was captured from the air by parasailor Chris. As well as capturing some of the action, he also caught the dangerous state of tide with his bird’s eye view. From air to land, the footage then moves to the hovercrafts on-board camera. The Coastguard Rescue 900 helicopter team, based in Sumburgh, joined the RNLI Lerwick Lifeboat crew for a joint training session south of Lerwick Harbour. During the session, the RNLI crew practiced helicopter operations at sea through a winching exercise. This involved using a hi-line to safely guide the winch paramedic on and off the lifeboat’s deck. The session gave both crews the opportunity to further develop and refine the skills they rely on when responding to emergencies in all condition
