The Nevada Highway Patrol, and division of the Nevada State Police, remained vigilant on July 4th to keep Nevada residents and visitors safe across the state. Statewide from 12:00 a.m. on July 4th – 6:00 a.m. on July 5th, the Nevada Highway Patrol conducted 939 enforcement stops and issued 744 citations. The Nevada State Police - Highway Patrol and the Lyon County Sheriff's Office - Nevada joined forces on July 2 for a traffic safety campaign in the area of US 50 and SR 439 from 6am to Noon. 130 traffic stops were made resulting in 107 citations and 2 arrests. Speeding and impairment continue to be the leading contributors to fatal crashes on Nevada’s roadways.
