I’m not surprised by the price tag as Iceland can be pricey and we chose to spend a lot on expensive activities and rent a car. But I would only rent a car if you have more than two people going because it is not cheap and some cases it might be better to just go with a tour group As far as activities- I liked everything we did except the Ice Cave Hike. It just wasn’t my cup of tea since we had to hike with cleats on and we went the last week of april so the cave was literally melting when we go
