Jan 9, 2025 · In the middle of a baseball field in Leadville, sits a sheet of ice roughly 150 feet long and 60 feet wide. Throughout the winter, every Tuesday and Wednesday, Leadville residents show up at this sheet of ice with two trailers, a set of brooms and stones and their warm winter gear. They’re part of the Cloud City Curling Club; the highest elevation curling club in the world.

Feb 3, 2025 · St. Vincent General Hospital District reported that their net income in 2024 was a profit of $3.8 million, $6 million swing from 2023 when the district saw a loss of $2.2 million.

Oct 7, 2024 · The Advocates of Lake County intend to open an emergency shelter in Leadville and are searching for a location. Currently the Advocates are in discussions with Lake County School District (LCSD) about an unused district building as a possible site.

Jan 9, 2025 · The mobile learning center, also known as El Camioncito, will resume its operations by Jan. 20 after a nearly 11-month hiatus. Mike Adler, the director of Lake County School District’s Project Dream, said that the mobile learning center is able to be reopened in large part due to the hiring of its new supervisor, Mandi Newton.

Sep 19, 2024 · The 5th Judicial District Attorney’s Office along with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, the Leadville Police Department and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation are naming 32-year-old Jeffrey Richard Crum as the homicide suspect in the death of 33-year-old Desiree Christine Fernandez.

Dec 13, 2024 · Leadville government officials have denied Hal Edwards’ claim that he was fired as police chief due to his race as a Black person. The Herald Democrat reported on May 16 that Edwards is suing the city government for allegedly violating his civil rights.. The case is in Denver at the U.S. District Court for Colorado because Edwards’ claims fall under federal civil rights laws.
