Baidu has established a good reputation in China. It has already made more than 11 million robotaxi rides, being one of the largest autonomous ride-hailing services worldwide. Uber is joining forces with Chinese tech company Baidu to roll out thousands of driverless vehicles on its ride-sharing platform across multiple international markets.

The robotaxi service is expected to launch in late 2026 in an unnamed "major US city," and Uber said that a prototype of an operational autonomous Lucid-Nuro vehicle is currently being tested on a closed circuit at a Nuro facility in Las Vegas.
