Cal Raleigh, Home Run Derby
Digest more
Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh won the Home Run Derby on Monday, but one of the most notable moments of the event came when he wasn't even batting.
Raleigh’s 93 home runs prior to this year were the most through a catcher’s first four seasons in MLB history, but 73 of those homers came hitting left-handed. Entering the 2025 season, Raleigh had never slugged above .450 as a right-handed hitter.
Known affectionately as “Big Dumper” because of his rather large rear end, Raleigh’s comedic nickname turned into a whole lot more when McAfee introduced Raleigh for the Home Run Derby.
There's not much better than the game's best power hitters showing off their strength and skill during the Derby. Tonight, we'll get to witness James Wood, Byron Buxton, Oneil Cruz, Jazz Chisholm, Cal Raleigh, Matt Olson, Junior Caminero and Brent Rooker battle it out to decide the 2025 champion.
