After a weekend of chaos, Syria has hit the brakes, at least for now. On Tuesday, the Syrian military announced a full ceasefire in As-Suwayda, where a violent showdown between Druze fighters, Bedouin tribes, and government forces had left nearly 100 people dead and hundreds more injured.

What began as kidnappings has escalated into a war. The neo-colonial authority seeks to subjugate As-Suwayda, whose people demand democracy, equality and freedom for all Syrians.

At least 30 people were killed and around 100 were injured in sectarian violence that exploded in Syria's southernmost As-Suwayda Governorate, the Middle Eastern country's Ministry of Interior said Monday morning.
