During the visit, President Trump will be joined by Pennsylvania Senator Dave McCormick, who is hosting the inaugural Pennsylvania Energy and Innovation Summit. It looks to bring together the top leaders in the energy, AI, global investment, labor, and trade sectors, and government officials.

Vice President JD Vance visited New Jersey on Wednesday following an appearance in West Pittston, Pennsylvania, to visit his chief of staff, Jacob Reses, The Press of Atlantic City reported. Reses’ father died on July 7, and services were held July 10.

Hundreds of protesters marched through Oakland Tuesday, voicing opposition to President Trump’s visit and the Pennsylvania Energy and Innovation Summit being held at Carnegie Mellon University.

With the change, the Trump administration has also backed away from a signature effort to stay ahead of China in the A.I. race. The U.S. government had been concerned that the Chinese military could use A.I. chips to coordinate attacks and develop weapons and had also wanted to preserve the U.S. lead in developing A.I. systems.

Vance will head to Luzerne County, which was a crucial area in President Donald Trump's 2024 win in Pennsylvania.
