A woman was shot multiple times by two people armed with rifles in Studio City Friday night, police said.

A Studio City woman was shot by assailants who followed her home late Friday night, Mar. 14, the Los Angeles Police Department said. The shooting was reported at 11:10 p.m., near 3944 Kentucky Drive and Lankershim Boulevard, Officer Norma Eisenman said.

The shooting occurred around 11 p.m. in a residential area near the 3900 block of Kentucky Drive. The 39-year-old victim had just parked her car.

The 39-year-old woman had just parked her car when she was approached by two suspects who had followed her in a silver sedan.

The incident has "chilling connotations" for survivors of sexual violence, a nonprofit director who had worked with the woman told the Los Angeles Times.

A distraught trans sex worker was shot by police at a San Fernando Valley motel last month after she called 911 for help, claiming she had been kidnapped. The incident was captured on officers’ body-worn video released Sunday by the Los Angeles Police Department.
