After a massive earthquake struck near Russia, tsunami alerts were prompted along the West Coast, including San Diego County.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Hawaii has lifted the tsunami advisory that was in place for San Diego and Orange counties but has left it in effect for other areas of the California coastline.

San Diego Fire-Rescue Lifeguards urged those in the water to be aware of the strong currents, "which can be dangerous for even experienced swimmers."
