Texas dismissed head basketball coach Rodney Terry on Sunday, with the Austin American-Statesman and other outlets reporting that the Longhorns will hire Xavier's Sean Miller as their next coach.

Rodney Terry has spent a ton of time devoted to building up the Texas Longhorns' basketball program. Unfortunately, what he's done, specifically as head coach, hasn't been enough.

Texas’ season ended when the Longhorns blew a 13-point lead in a 86-80 loss to Xavier and finished 19-16 overall. Texas lost in the second round of the tournament last year.

Terry originally took over as a replacement for Chris Beard during the 2022-23 season. Texas went 22-8 under him and 29-9 overall that year. It lost in the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament.

Terry had a 62–37 record during his stint with the Longhorns, and has a 225–193 record in 13 seasons as a head coach with Fresno State, UTEP and Texas.

Texas barely qualified for the NCAA Tournament under Rodney Terry as the No. 11 seed. Fate would have it, they had to play Miller's former team in Xavier as part of the First Four.
