Forecasters are warning of potentially deadly flash flooding and strong tornadoes in coming days from a new round of storms.

A dangerous, wide-reaching storm is threatening tens of millions of people along nearly the entire Eastern Seaboard Monday after touching off several tornadoes, dropping baseball-sized hail and killing at least seven people in the central US this weekend.

Powerful storms are forecast to move east after pelting the central U.S. with heavy wind and giant hailstones, causing at least five deaths and leaving hundreds of thousands without power. Parts of the mid-Atlantic and the Southeast are bracing for storms that damaged buildings and whipped up tornadoes in the Midwest and Southern states.

A severe winter storm has killed at least three and left almost half a million energy customers without power on Monday morning, as strong winds and heavy rain caused havoc from the Mid-Atlantic to the South.

Crews have been busy the past two days repairing damage, including downed wires and at least 130 broken utility poles.
