Despite helping create modern geek culture as we know it today with Star Wars, George Lucas himself had never attended a single Comic-Con in San Diego in its fifty-year history.

The Comic-Con panel for the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art saw a vibrant fanfare as attendees wielded Star Wars lightsabers.

"We are beyond thrilled to welcome George Lucas to Comic-Con for the very first time," said event spokesman David Glanzer.
