The Emmy nominations are out, and after watching all the nominated performances for Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series on the 2025 television schedule, I’m completely torn as to who I think should win.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z will compete against each other at the 2025 Emmy Awards in the Outstanding Variety Special (Live) category. Beyoncé was nominated for Netflix's Christmas Game Day halftime show, while Jay-Z received a nod for the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show.

Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg say their Emmy nominations for “The Studio” feel especially validating. Their years of success with R-rated comedy films apparently are not nearly as exciting to their moms as getting acknowledged by the Television Academy.

That being said, it is an utter delight to see Matlock star Kathy Bates’ reaction to being nominated for “Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama.” Shared straight from the set of Matlock ’s upcoming second season, you can see the Academy Award winner’s inspiring speech below:

Emmy Awards nominations show the motivation, or lack thereof, behind voters' laziness remains unknown to us industry outsiders.

Both The Batman and The Penguin are streaming now on HBO Max. Part II is currently expected to arrive in theaters on October 1st, 2027 so it's not on the 2025 or 2026 movie release list. We'll just have to wait and re-watch the previous two projects.
