Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer "did well" in a first training session since fracturing his foot but remains in limbo in terms of a return to competition, said coach Jupp Heynckes on Friday.

But Neuer, who has 117 caps for the national team, has insisted he will return. On Monday, Bayern also presented their new goalkeeper Daniel Peretz who has signed a five-year deal.

Neuer will not play a part in Bayern's final away match of the season at Cologne this weekend, but Heynckes said: "He should make the next step next week.

Manuel Neuer was unable to train with the team again today. Instead, he continued with recovery training in the performance center. He completed a session in the weight room on the treadmill.

Neuer, 32, has broken his foot three times since March 2017 and has made only three Bundesliga appearances this season, the last coming in the 4-0 win over Mainz on Sept. 16.
