Two months after deadly wildfires razed thousands of homes in the Los Angeles area, Cal Fire has released a new map showing fire hazard severity zones for the entire state. The maps were developed using science-based and field-tested models that assign a hazard score based on factors like fire likelihood and fire behavior,

Cal Fire said the maps are proactive, to be used in wildland-urban interface building standards for new construction and natural hazard real estate disclosures at the time of sale.
