Russian military aircraft were seen flying off the coast of Alaska, marking the latest in a string of sightings. U.S.

Alaska's Republican governor, Mike Dunleavy, said in 2024 that Russian and Chinese incursions into U.S. zones off Alaska have become increasingly frequent.

The U.S. military also said Russian warplanes were detected near Alaska in September, when more than 100 U.S. soldiers were deployed temporarily to Alaska's remote Shemya Island.
