Jorge Mateo will be back with the Orioles in 2025, and he could stick around for another year. The Orioles on Tuesday announced that they avoided arbitration with the utility player, agreeing to terms for the 2025 season with a club option for 2026.

Baltimore second baseman Jorge Mateo avoided a salary arbitration hearing when he agreed to a $3.55 million, one-year contract with the Orioles on Tuesday. Mateo’s deal includes a $5.5 million team option for 2026.

The Orioles plan to tap into new special adviser Adam Jones’ experience in Japan to help expand the ballclub’s reach.

Adam Jones said he is "ecstatic" to be back with the Orioles as a special advisor to GM Mike Elias and a community ambassador.
