North Carolina has become the first swing state to draw new congressional districts amid a nationwide redistricting battle initiated by President Trump.

Last week, North Carolina Republicans unveiled a plan, backed by President Donald Trump, to redraw the state’s congressional map in order to pick up another seat for the GOP in the 2026 midterms. Less than a week later, that map became law.

North Carolina no longer has any particularly competitive Congressional districts, thanks to the new map passed this week at President Donald Trump’s request.
