Houston elementary school student likely set new world record in Houston half marathon Sunday
One of the runners reportedly set a world record in the half marathon for his age group -- 11-year-old Leo Mendoza. Leo is a fifth-grader at Kolter Elementary in Meyerland and a member of the Heart of Houston Track Club. He ran the half marathon -- 13.2 miles -- in a blazing 1:23:23. That is a 6.22-minute-per-mile pace.

Houston officer fatally shoots 'armed suspect' in Kashmere Gardens, police say
HOUSTON - A man has died after being shot by a Houston officer in Kashmere Gardens, according to the department. Police say calls started coming in shortly before 2:30 p.m. about a suspicious person with a weapon on Wayne Street. According to Assistant HPD Chief James Skelton, the suspect was threatening family members with a weapon.
