Author J.D. Salinger, who wrote "Catcher in the Rye" has died at age 91. The author's son, through Salinger's literary agent, said Salinger died at his home in New Hampshire of natural causes.
In abandoning Judaism, Salinger also played out something of an Oedipal fantasy. He grew even closer to Miriam, his adored mother, and eventually dedicated The Catcher in the Rye to her in 1951.
