Tropical Storm Melissa was moving slowly through the Caribbean Sea on Wednesday, meaning portions of Haiti, the Dominican Republic and Jamaica were expected to see major flooding through the week, the National Hurricane Center said.

Tropical Storm Melissa dumped heavy rain on Hispaniola as forecasters warned Wednesday of a significant flood risk in parts of the Caribbean region in the coming days.

Due to the slow movement of this storm, the threat for significant flash flooding and landslides appears to be increasing across the Dominican Republic, Haiti and Jamaica.
