The landmark suit was brought by three Jewish students and a professor who accused the university of violating their civil rights.

UCLA initially had argued that it had no legal responsibility over the issue because protesters, not the university, blocked Jewish students' access to areas. The university also worked with law enforcement to thwart attempts to set up new protest camps.

Attorney General Pam Bondi demanded “severe accountability” from the University of California at Los Angeles on Tuesday after the Justice Department found the university violated federal civil rights laws by failing to stop antisemitic harassment on campus.
