President Donald Trump says there will be a 90-day negotiating period with Mexico after a call with that country’s leader as the 25% tariff rates stay in place.

An appeals court in Washington will consider President Donald Trump's sweeping tariff plan, which comes into force Aug. 1, and has sparked consternation from small businesses.

Members of the 11-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington appeared unconvinced by the Trump administration’s insistence that the president could impose tariffs without congressional approval, and it hammered its invocation of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act to do so.

Trump’s suspension of “reciprocal” tariffs will end on Friday, which means the world could face higher tariffs once again.
