Lake-effect snow in Illinois likely to disrupt Monday commute as winter blast hits hardest farther south
As Illinoisans return to the office after the holiday season, their Monday blues might be further magnified by lake-effect snow on the tail end of a major, disruptive snowstorm that slammed the central United States and by below-normal temperatures later in the week.
Illinois winter storm: Snow comes to the Peoria area while other areas see high totals
The Peoria area has "almost 100% chance" of snow on Sunday afternoon or early evening, with between 2-6 inches expected according to NWS meteorologist John Bumgardner, who said the heaviest snow will fall near Springfield and Decatur. The heaviest snow is expected to fall between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m.
