Attorney General Pam Bondi has fired one of the top career officials tasked with advising her and other senior Justice Department officials of their ethical obligations, an official familiar with the dismissal confirmed to ABC News Monday.

Joseph Tirrell, who led the Departmental Ethics Office, wrote on LinkedIn that he received a letter from Attorney General Pam Bondi on Friday terminating him.

Tirrell posted a copy of his termination letter on LinkedIn, noting that it resembled notices received by other DOJ employees.

The terminated employee was responsible for advising the upper echelon of the DOJ on its ethical obligations.
