Light northeast to east winds are bringing Canadian wildfire smoke into Kansas, particularly the central and eastern parts of the state, prompting the Kansas Department of Health and Environment to issue an air quality advisory Friday.

The smoke is expected to remain over the northern and central Plains of the United States for the next couple of days, according to meteorologists.

An air quality alert was issued by the New York State Department of Health on Saturday due to smoke from wildfires in Canada.
