According to the report, Helene is now recognized as the deadliest hurricane in the contiguous United States since Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

Southeastern states from Florida to Tennessee are still cleaning up the devastation from Hurricane Helene, six months after the storm made landfall in Florida.

The National Hurricane Center measured more than 13 feet of storm surge in areas like Keaton Beach and Steinhatchee, destroying 80% of the buildings there.
