The Giants used their first two selections of the 2025 MLB draft on a pair of contact-oriented, middle-of-the-diamond position players by selecting Tennessee shortstop Gavin Kilen in the first round and Rutgers outfielder Trevor Cohen in the third round. On the draft’s second day, San Francisco will have 16 picks from rounds 4-20.
Trevor Cohen is representing New Jersey two-fold in the 2025 MLB Draft. A standout outfielder at Holy Spirit, Cohen just wrapped up a tremendous season at Rutgers. He amassed 91 hits and a .387 average, adding on 26 extra-base hits and 19 stolen bases, which was enough to get him drafted.
Cohen put together one of the best seasons in Big Ten history, setting the conference record for hits in conference play, and was the most difficult player in the Power Four to strike out.
Logan Webb led the San Francisco Giants contingent with a strong performance as Steven Kwan and other players with local connections made crucial plays in a historic MLB All-Star Game.
Tennessee baseball had nine players picked in the 2025 MLB Draft, but it also got key players back and recruits to campus for Tony Vitello's roster.
