Data analyzed by the CBS News Crime Unit shows at least 50 law enforcement officers have been shot in ambush attacks so far this year.

LORAIN, Ohio (WOIO) - Investigators say shooting suspect Michael Joseph Parker, 28, of North Lakeview Boulevard, in Lorain was found with multiple high-powered rifles, handguns and large amounts of an explosive called Tannerite.

The city of Lorain is rallying around its police force and honoring the three officers shot in an ambush attack, including Officer Phillip Wagner, who died Thursday.

When Parkersburg Police Chief Matthew Board was asked about the dangers of working as a police officer, he said police officers learn in training how to prepare for these situations.

Two officers, Phillip Wagner and Brent Payne, were shot several times. A third officer, Peter Gale, was shot in the hand.

The body of Officer Wagner was escorted from the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office in Cleveland to the Liston Funeral Home in North Ridgeville.

The national organization Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) is wrapping its collective arms around the Lorain Police Department after three officers were ambushed in Lorain Wednesday.
