A college professor was found dead and a coach remains missing after their boat was discovered empty on Lake Oconee.

Search crews are on Lake Oconee in hopes of finding the body of beloved Coach Gary Jones. He's presumed dead after search crews pulled his fiancé’s body out of the lake over the weekend. The sheriff remains steadfast this fatal incident is not a simple accident.

“Gary Jones is a beloved Westminster faculty member, coach, and parent. On Sunday, we received word from his family that Gary had gone missing while spending time at an area lake. Our entire community is praying for his safe return and his family during this difficult moment,” a spokesperson for the school wrote in a statement.

Gary Jones and Joycelyn Wilson, who were engaged, vanished over the weekend.

The Putnam County sheriff says Gary Jones and his fiance, Spelman instructor Joycelyn Wilson were last seen on Saturday. Her body has since been found.
