SHEIKH, Egypt (Reuters) -Hamas said on Tuesday it wants to reach a deal to end the war in Gaza based on U.S. President Trump's plan but still has a set of demands, a statement signalling that indirect talks with Israel in Egypt could be difficult and lengthy.

As the peace talks between Israel and Hamas enter their second day on the two-year anniversary of the beginning of the war in Gaza, Israel remains ”cautiously optimistic about the talks in Egypt” and insists that “the immediate release of all 48 hostages is non-negotiable”.

As Israelis come together to mourn those killed two years ago by Hamas, the sounds of the ongoing war in Gaza reverberate over a solemn memorial.

About 800 people were expected to gather Sunday evening at Temple Beth El in Bloomfield Hills for a concert to mark the two-year anniversary of Hamas assault on Israel.
