Amid the backlash to the Trump administration’s use of the private messaging app Signal for sensitive U.S. military planning in Yemen, Politico reported Wednesday that national security adviser Mike Waltz’s team set up at least 20 such chats.

National Security Advisor Michael Waltz and a senior aide used personal Gmail accounts for government communications, according to a Washington Post report published yesterday. Waltz has been at the center of controversy for weeks because he inadvertently invited The Atlantic Editor-in-Chief Jeffrey Goldberg to a Signal chat in which top Trump administration officials discussed a plan for bombing Houthi targets in Yemen.
