Lunch at Petra’s followed by a stroll down the beach. It’s high season and we are only ones here. Hidden gem. Quiet family atmosphere amongst the neighbours and handful of restaurants/bars.Full review by James M

Absolutely perfect beach, we had it almost to ourselves. Peaceful everywhere, nobody bothers you, no lifeguard whistling at you. We will definitely return.Full review by hazinbint

We stayed at the north end of Lower Bay Beach for 2 weeks in early December. We walked to/from Port Elizabeth at least a dozen times. It is a lovely walk along the beach ... no need to climb up high to the main road ... the walk takes about 15 minutes. Several things to note. Port Elizabeth is on Admiralty Bay. To get to Lower Bay you must pass the headland that separates Admiralty Bay from Princess Margaret Beach. Hurricane Matthew wiped out a 100 foot long section of the walkway so you must go into knee-deep water for a bit. You will want to wear crocs, water shoes, flip-flops or an old pair of running shoes you don't mind getting wet. There is another headland to get around to get from PM Beach to Lower Bay ... it is a short steepish climb that brings you out on the road maybe 150 metres from Lower Bay. If you are interested in snorkelling, there is a small reef right at the headland that divides PM Beach & Lower Bay Beach ... there is lots to see. Lastly there are several restaurants on Lower Bay Beach ... our favourite was "La Plage" at the north end and nicely located right on the beach (as the name would suggest!). Enjoy your trip. I am envious! Dave & Kathie British Columbia Canada
